Fire Stopping

Printer-friendly version

Fire stopping and penetration sealing is the process of preserving the fire resisting performance of walls, floors and roofs where voids exist or services have been installed.

Fire Stopping is vital to the stability and integrity of a building or structure in case of fire. A building is separated into manageable areas of risk (Fire Compartments) by the use of passive fire protection measures which have proven fire performance properties. These fire stopping measures are designed to restrain the growth and spread of fire, allowing the building occupants time to escape safely. It is paramount that any gaps in these fire resisting constructions are sealed to ensure the system works to it's maximum ability. Such gaps are typically at service penetrations through walls and floors.

This fire protection for penetrations passing through floors, walls, ductwork etc., can provide up to four hours fire resistance.

Fire Barrier Services install fire stopping products to electrical, mechanical and hydraulic services penetrating fire rated elements of buildings.

Every service passing through fire resistant building elements reacts in a different way in the event of fire, so there is no single solution or product that will protect all services.

Fire Barrier Services have a proven track record and pedigree for finding the correct solution for your fire stopping requirements.
